Runoff has started so look at tailwaters where flows are controlled to some extent.
CIMARRON: 11cfs from the dam and 31cfs on the lower reaches. a little skinny at the top so use small mayfly patters and look for rising fish. Dry and dropper rigs with caddis or Pheasant Tail droppers on the lower end where the flow is higher.Don't forget the SJ Worms.
RED RIVER: 290cfs below the Hatchery and off color. Probably over until mid-June when our expected heavy runoff subsides.
RIO GRANDE: 1900cfs in Cerro and 2400cfs in Pilar. Try rafting until fall.
COSTILLA: 209cfs near Costilla. Roads to the RCCLA stretch above Latir Creek could be a bit snowy for a few weeks yet.
CONEJOS: 209cfs from Platoro and 1000cfs and rising fast on the lower end. The Superfly was a big success again this year as flows stayed around 200cfs and clear. As long as the water is clear the Conejos will fish well. The release from the dam will open up the meadows below Platoro and they should fish well if the road is open. For reports on clarity and the status of the road call Conejos River Anglers 719-376-5660.
CULEBRA: 30-50cfs over a day. Water temps in the 50*s on sunny days. Action best with 2 nymph rigs, top for weight and the smaller point fly for the fish. Small caddis [#16] larva and other small nymphs. This is your best bet.
